Course Overview
The Champion Course at PGA National is the crown jewel of the resort — a Jack Nicklaus-designed layout that has hosted PGA Tour events for decades. Playing 7,048 yards with a rating of 75.2 and slope of 147, it features the famous 'Bear Trap' — holes 15, 16, and 17 — a stretch of water-laden holes that have decided countless tournaments. This is tour-level golf accessible to resort guests and the public, and the experience is every bit as dramatic as the television coverage suggests.
Fairway Conditions
Tour-caliber conditioning that's maintained to professional event standards year-round. Bermuda fairways are firm and fast, greens are lightning-quick with subtle breaks, and the Bear Trap holes are as intimidating in person as they look on TV. The full practice facility is world-class, and the overall experience reflects the PGA brand's commitment to excellence.
Why I Love This Course
â Alex Haigh
"The Champion Course is where the PGA Tour comes to test itself, and there's nothing quite like teeing it up on the same holes you've watched on Sunday afternoon television. The Bear Trap — holes 15 through 17 — is one of the most famous stretches in professional golf, and playing it in person gives you a whole new appreciation for what those pros go through. The Nicklaus design is demanding but fair, and the conditioning is immaculate. If you're a serious golfer visiting the area, this is a bucket-list round."
