Course Overview
The West Course at John's Island is another Pete Dye creation — and at 7,220 yards with a rating of 75.1 and slope of 142, it's the most demanding of the three layouts. Dye pushed the boundaries here with dramatic elevation changes, deep pot bunkers, and water hazards that come into play on nearly every hole. The West Course is the ultimate test at one of Indian River County's finest private clubs.
Fairway Conditions
Tour-level conditioning with Dye's signature dramatic design elements. Bermuda fairways are pristine, with bold bunkering, waste areas, and water hazards defining every hole. The higher yardage and slope make this the ultimate private-club challenge. Conditioning is flawless — this is a course maintained to the highest standard.
Why I Love This Course
â Alex Haigh
"If the North Course at John's Island tests you, the West Course breaks you — and I mean that with the utmost respect. Pete Dye designed this to be the ultimate test: 7,220 yards, 75.1 rating, 142 slope. Those numbers tell you everything. But the genius of Dye is that it never feels unfair. Every hole gives you a line, a plan, a chance. You just have to commit. I've played this course on days when my game was sharp and it felt like magic, and I've played it when it wasn't and it felt like a long day. Either way, I walked off the 18th green wanting to come back."
