Hammock Creek Golf Club
Palm City, Martin County
Course Overview
A father-son collaboration between Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II, Hammock Creek is one of the most demanding public courses on the Treasure Coast. Playing 6,814 yards with a rating of 73.5 and slope of 142, the Nicklaus design forces you to think on every shot. Set within the Hammock Creek community of golf estates, the course features dramatic carries, strategic bunkering, and water on nearly every hole.
Fairway Conditions
The Nicklaus design is immaculately maintained — this is one of the best-conditioned public courses in the area. Bermuda fairways are lush and well-manicured. The greens are firm and fast with subtle undulations that demand accurate lag putting. Water comes into play constantly, adding both beauty and intimidation.
Why I Love This Course
â Alex Haigh
"I'll be honest — Hammock Creek humbles me every time I play it. That 142 slope is real, and the Nicklaus design doesn't give you anything for free. But that's exactly why I respect it. When you play well here, you know you've earned it. The father-son design gives it a thoughtful quality — you can feel the experience in how the holes are laid out. It's the course I recommend to low-handicappers who want to test themselves. If you're a 20-handicap, play it anyway — just bring extra balls."
