Medalist Golf Club is a private, golf-focused club off U.S. 1 in Hobe Sound, one parcel south of McArthur. Greg Norman co-founded the club and co-designed the course with Pete Dye in one of Norman's first U.S. designs; Golf Digest and GolfPass date it to 1995, and the club gives 1996 as its founding year. The holes wind through an undeveloped sanctuary of wetlands and low scrub, exposed to Atlantic crosswinds, with Dye's S-shaped holes curling around sand, sod-walled bunkers and small, low-profile greens that run off into short-grass surrounds. After years of changes in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Bobby Weed restored much of the original Dye character in a 2015 renovation and added Tiger tees that stretch the course past 7,500 yards. Golf Digest ranks Medalist No. 188 on its Second 100 Greatest and No. 10 in Florida (2025-26), and notes a membership that includes Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. The par 72 plays 7,515 yards from the Tiger tees (77.0 / 149) and 7,133 yards from the Black tees (75.0 / 145).

Conditioning is Medalist's top-scoring category with Golf Digest panelists (7.77), followed by Challenge (7.57). Reviewers call the course and practice facilities exceptionally conditioned, and note how much green sizes vary, with hazards and mounding giving character to a site without real elevation change. Greens are Bermuda. Wetlands, pine straw and sod-walled bunkers frame the holes, and the open site leaves the course exposed to the wind. The club uses a Thor Guard lightning prediction system, with shelters on holes 4 and 15.

Hobe Sound has a humid subtropical climate with mild, drier winters and hot, humid summers, so golf is played year-round. Peak season from November through April brings comfortable mid-70s highs. Summers reach the upper 80s and low 90s with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through September. Medalist's open wetland setting a few miles from the ocean leaves it exposed to Atlantic crosswinds, and the club closes on Mondays and Tuesdays from June through September.

Pete Dye and Greg Norman designed this to be a legitimate test for the best players in the world, and it delivers. The 77.0 rating and 149 slope from the Tiger tees are numbers you almost never see on a scorecard. This is where you go to understand what elite golf really looks like.”

Medalist has no public tee times. Guests play with a member, and the club asks visitors to follow its dress code: proper-length shorts are permitted, and golf or sport shirts are required. The clubhouse, golf shop and practice facilities open at 7:30 am and the course at 8:00 am. The club does not publish guest fees.

On May 24, 2020, Medalist hosted The Match: Champions for Charity, with Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning beating Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady on the final hole. Turner Sports reported nearly six million viewers, the most-watched golf telecast in cable history at the time.
The clubhouse has a restaurant and bar for members and guests, and Golf Digest reviewers single out the food and the men's locker room.
Jonathan Dickinson State Park is just south, with paddling on the Loxahatchee, hiking and camping, and the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge protects beach and scrub habitat nearby.
Hobe Sound Beach on Jupiter Island and Blowing Rocks Preserve are the closest Atlantic stops.
Downtown Hobe Sound along Dixie Highway has local cafes and shops, and Harry and the Natives is an Old Florida institution on U.S. 1.
