Western Martin County (SW Kanner Hwy), Martin County
Best For
Sandglass Golf Club is a private, golf-first club in western Martin County, built by architect Tom Doak and his Renaissance Golf Design team on roughly 240 acres of former agricultural land between the St. Lucie Canal (the Okeechobee Waterway) and SW Kanner Highway, about 6.5 miles west of I-95. The 2023 Martin County site plan, filed under the working name Rolling Sands, called for an 18-hole private course with a driving range, a one-story clubhouse and pro shop, two cottages, and a helicopter pad. Doak's earlier Florida work is Streamsong Blue in Polk County. Writing for SCOREGolf in February 2026 after a round with Doak, Lorne Rubenstein described a course on pancake-flat ground into which Doak introduced fairway and green contours that recalled Royal Melbourne, North Berwick, Royal Dornoch, and Pine Valley, playing firm and fast with multiple options on almost every shot and rewarding the bounce and roll of a ground game. His group walked the 18 with caddies, and he noted that the minimalist scorecard carried no yardages. The club keeps a deliberately low profile: its website is a member login, and par and yardages are not published. FSGA ratings run from 65.7 / 113 to 75.8 / 142 for men.

Sandglass is maintained firm and fast, the playing style Doak's design depends on, according to SCOREGolf's February 2026 account. The Martin County site plan calls for irrigation drawn from the St. Lucie Canal under an existing South Florida Water Management District permit. FSGA lists Clarence Covington as superintendent. The club is private and publishes nothing on agronomy, so there is no public review data; contact the club for current conditions.
