Course Overview

Formerly Martin County Golf Course, Sailfish Sands is Martin County's municipal golf destination at 2000 SE St. Lucie Boulevard in Stuart, adjacent to Sewall's Point and part of the Florida Historic Golf Trail. The Sailfish 18 is a Ron Garl-designed par 72 that plays 6,221 yards from the back tees and 4,979 yards from the forward tees, with four sets of tees, tight fairways, small greens, and water on nearly every hole. Signature hole #9 is a long dogleg-right par 4 with trees on the right and water on the left. The Sands 9 is a reversible nine by John Sanford (Sanford Golf Design): Sands Black plays clockwise to a par 35 at 3,368 yards from the furthest tees, and Sands Gold plays counterclockwise to a par 34 at 2,868 yards. Course direction is set by management based on season and conditions. The site's golf roots go back to a 1920s William Langford layout known as St. Lucie River Country Club; Martin County acquired the property in 1947.

Stuart enjoys a classic humid subtropical climate with mild, dry winters and warm, humid summers, ideal for year-round golf. Winter highs average in the mid-70s, making the peak season from November through April particularly pleasant. Summers bring temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through September. The coastal breeze off the Atlantic and the St. Lucie River keeps conditions comfortable even in the warmer months.

“This is where I tell people to start if they're visiting the Treasure Coast and just want to get a feel for the area. It's a municipal course, so it won't blow you away with luxury amenities, but the layout is honest, the location is beautiful, and you're playing golf near the water in Stuart. I've brought my kids here for twilight rounds and it's always a good time.”

Green Fees & Rates

Public daily play. Cart included.

Sailfish 18 daily rates (effective May 1, 2026) range from $30.95 resident / $35.95 non-resident after 5 p.m. weekdays up to $48.95 / $58.95 for weekend mornings before 11 a.m., plus tax. Afternoon and twilight windows step down in price. Sands 9 weekday rates are $28.95 resident / $33.95 non-resident and weekend $30.95 / $35.95, with walking after 2 p.m. from $20.95 / $22.95. All listed course rates include cart and credit card processing; tipping is not permitted. Club rentals: $70 + tax for 18 holes, $40 + tax for 9 holes. Veterans receive the Martin County resident rate with valid military ID. Juniors receive 50% off the non-resident rate. Book online or call the Pro Shop at (772) 320-4653.

Junior Golf Card

For golfers ages 14 and under. Includes free 9-hole walking play on Sands 9 (space available at posted times), free junior club rental (first-come, first-served), 50% off range baskets at the Pro Shop, and Junior Academy instruction at $10 per session (regularly $20). Sailfish 18 is cart-only; free when accompanied by a paid adult, otherwise cart fee applies with a valid driver's license.

Daily Green Fees

No private equity membership. Public daily play on Sailfish 18 and Sands 9 with resident and non-resident pricing. GHIN handicap service is $25 annually (October 1 to September 30).

Cart Fees

Cart fees are included in posted Sailfish 18 and Sands 9 daily rates. Sands 9 walking after 2 p.m. is available at a reduced rate. Junior Golf Card cart use is $10 when a cart is permitted.

Hitting Bays

Twenty climate-controlled Trackman bays. Bay rates vary by day and time (roughly $20 to $49.95 per bay/hour plus tax and a 10% service charge). Unlimited play promo $20 per person Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Up to seven players per bay. Food and beverages sold separately.

Guest Policies & Booking

Credit card required to reserve. Online bookings are charged at reservation; phone bookings hold the card and charge at check-in or for no-shows without 24-hour cancellation notice. Groups of 12 or more should call the Pro Shop for pricing.

Sailfish Sands Restaurant & Bar

Full-service restaurant and bar serving the hitting bays and golf facility. Guests can order food and drinks while playing games or watching shot data in the climate-controlled bays. Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with buy-one-get-one-free drinks. Trivia Night is Tuesdays 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with 50% off shareable appetizers.
