Sailfish Point Golf Club is the private, member-owned club at the heart of Sailfish Point, a gated 532-acre community of about 520 homes on the southern tip of Hutchinson Island in Stuart, where the Atlantic Ocean, the St. Lucie Inlet, and the Indian River Lagoon meet. Jack Nicklaus designed the course in 1981, and Nicklaus Design calls it the ninth Signature course his team ever built. Nicklaus's firm has been the only architect here for more than four decades, most recently with a roughly $7 million reimagining that began in spring 2021 and reopened in December 2021. That project added forward tees on all 18 holes, expanded greens back to their original size, trimmed formal sand by about 15 percent while keeping the bold, high-flashed bunkers, and rebuilt the practice facility. The par 72 now plays from 4,423 to 7,117 yards over seven sets of tees, with a 75.0 rating and 148 slope from the Black tees. The routing weaves between ocean, river, and inlet, and it finishes on the par 4 18th, known as the "Window to the Sea" for its approach toward the Atlantic. A no-tee-times policy keeps the course open to members whenever they want to play, and Golfweek ranked it 100th on its 2021 list of the best residential courses in the U.S.

The 2021 renovation replaced every blade of grass, installed TifEagle Bermuda greens with an upgraded irrigation system, and added advanced bunker liners to hold the sand in place against the ocean wind. The course is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, with butterfly gardens and an apiary program on the property, and Sailfish Point operates as a zero-discharge community, with an on-site water treatment plant supplying irrigation water. Director of Golf Course Operations Scott MacPhee leads the agronomy team. Public review data is thin for a private club, so contact the club for current conditions and cart policies.
