Piper's Landing Yacht & Country Club

Piper's Landing is a member-owned, resident-only yacht and country club on the South Fork of the St. Lucie River in Palm City, with just 302 residences (270 single-family homes and 32 condos) on 600 acres, where each single-family home sits on one-third to one-half acre or more and there are no zero lot lines. The golf course was designed in the early 1980s by "Gentleman" Joe Lee, a native Floridian whose tournament portfolio includes Doral's Blue Monster and Bay Hill, and received a $4 million renovation by Gene Bates (a former Nicklaus design executive) completed in 2007. Lee's player-friendly bones and Bates's modernization produce a par 72 that winds through palms, oak hammocks, marsh preserves, and lakes and stretches to 6,939 yards from the Black tees, with a 73.7 rating and a stout 145 slope. Ten tee sets, down to 4,478 yards, let every member find the right course. The club says the gently rolling terrain is engineered to reopen within hours of even a five-inch rain. Because only residents are members, the club can promise a tee time when it works for you. The other half of the name is the private 49-slip marina, a naturally protected basin with ocean access and slips from 25 to 85 feet, with quick runs to the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic.

The 2007 Bates renovation was built for playability and drainage: the club says the course can reopen within hours of a five-inch rainfall rather than days. GolfPass lists Bermuda greens. The practice area was rebuilt in 2021 after two years of planning, with a laser-leveled, roughly 32,000-square-foot range tee sodded in platinum paspalum, a synthetic strip for busy days, a three-bay shade cover, re-shaped target greens flanked by bunkers sprigged in Celebration Bermuda, and an enlarged chipping area and practice bunkers. With membership limited to residents, traffic stays light. Public review data is thin, so contact the club for current agronomy and cart rules.

The member calendar includes Twilight Golf (Nine & Dine) and the Piper's Charity Classic, one of many charitable efforts the members support. On the water, the marina hosts a Blessing of the Fleet and Docktail parties, and members have spent the past several years restoring the mangrove island that shelters the yacht basin, growing more than 5,000 mangroves in a community nursery for a project covered by WPTV in August 2026.
