Course Overview

The Ocean Club is the golf, racquets, and social club of Marriott Hutchinson Island Resort & Beach Villas, Golf & Marina, set on more than 200 acres at the south end of Hutchinson Island in Stuart, between the Atlantic and the Indian River Lagoon. Its 18-hole executive course was designed by Charles Ankrom and opened in 1978 (it was formerly known as Indian River Plantation Golf Club). The club notes it has been ranked by Golf Digest as one of the best executive golf courses in the country. The par 61 has twelve par 3s, five par 4s, and one 490-yard par 5 to finish, and measures 4,048 yards from the Blue tees with a 59.9 rating and 102 slope. The club builds the experience around accessibility and fun: rounds in three hours or less, flat and even lies, minimal forced carries, and a layout that is easy to walk with a push cart or light carry bag, which makes it a natural fit for beginners, families, and seniors. Water is a regular feature on the course, and conditioning is a point of pride, with Bermuda grass throughout and recently renovated Paspalum greens. Club members also get the resort's private beach, pools, fitness centers, marina, and dining.

Fairway Conditions

The club describes Bermuda grass fairways throughout the playing areas and smooth, consistent Paspalum greens that were recently renovated. GolfPass reviewers score it 4.5 out of 5 (conditions 4.5, pace 4.9), with recent reviews calling the greens true and the bunkers among the best they have played in Florida and noting rounds of about two and a half hours. The most common knock is the dated feel of the clubhouse and some cart paths and tee boxes, so expect excellent putting surfaces on a casual, vacation-friendly layout.

Hutchinson Island has a humid subtropical climate with mild, drier winters and warm, humid summers that support year-round golf. Peak season from November through April brings comfortable mid-70s highs. Summers push into the upper 80s and low 90s with typical afternoon thunderstorms from June through September. Sitting on a barrier island between the ocean and the lagoon, the course gets a steady sea breeze that keeps things comfortable and adds a little club selection to the short holes.

Per club materials (2026-27 membership year), member golf rates are $20 for 18 holes year-round for Gold members, and $45 for 18 holes (Nov. 1 to April 30) or $33 for 18 holes (May 1 to Oct. 31) for Silver members.

Tournaments & Events

Member golf tournaments and events run throughout the year, including Monday Twilight Golf followed by happy hour, Ocean Club Week, and holiday events such as the Valentine's Sweetheart Golf Tournament. The racquets community dates to 1979 and keeps a calendar of round robins, league play, member tournaments, and social nights.

Tennis

Two Har-Tru clay courts and five turf courts, with private and semi-private lessons, clinics, round robins, league play, and member tournaments. Courts are open daily from 7:30 am to 5 pm and can be reserved through the club website, along with the ball machine.

Pickleball

Fitness Centers

Two 24-hour fitness centers and a dedicated lap pool are included with every membership level, plus select resort wellness activities such as Sunrise Yoga.

Pools, Beach & Marina

Members use three resort pools (Main Resort, Ocean Club, and Beach Villas) and two hot tubs, the private beach with complimentary chairs, umbrellas, and towels, and the resort's 75-slip marina (Gold members get six complimentary transient slip stays, Silver three) with access to the Intracoastal, the St. Lucie Inlet, and the Atlantic.
