Course Overview
The Shores of North River is a casual executive course in Stuart, just north of the Roosevelt Bridge in the North River Shores neighborhood, a block off the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. It opened in 1970 as Pine Lakes Golf Club, later played as North River Golf Club, and in 2017 was bought by longtime Martin County resident Andres Castellanos, who grew up playing it, and renamed The Shores of North River. The club credits Arthur Young with the design: a par 66 with six par 3s and twelve par 4s and an old Florida look of southern oaks and pines, measuring 4,502 yards from the Blue tees with a 61.9 rating and 102 slope. Four sets of tees make it friendly for every skill level, and it is the kind of place where you can grab your clubs after work and get around quickly. Big changes are planned: in April 2026 First Tee National Trustee Rick Horrow announced the Ben Horrow Project, a donation-funded plan (projected at $19 million) to acquire and fully renovate the 70-acre property as a First Tee facility, with Jack Nicklaus, his son Jackie, and grandson Stevie leading the redesign and an expanded driving range, new irrigation and drainage, and renovated clubhouse and maintenance facility. No construction or closure dates had been announced at publication.

“Not every round needs to be a four-hour championship test. North River Shores is where I go when I want to just enjoy being outside with a club in my hand. The pace is fast, the price is right, and the neighborhood setting is actually really pleasant. I've brought my kids here and they love it. If you're visiting and want to squeeze in a quick round between other activities, this is the spot.”

Published rates (tax included) for 18 holes with cart: $40 non-member and $35 member from 7 am to 11:59 am, $35 and $31 from noon to 2:29 pm, $29 and $26 from 2:30 pm to 4:29 pm, and $24 and $19 from 4:30 pm to close. Nine holes any time are $29 non-member and $26 member, and walking is $24 and $19. The Saturday Special is $32 for 18 holes with a hot dog and a drink. Juniors 17 and under walk for $7 after tax and play free with a paid adult. Rider fee is $10.
