Course Overview
Crane Watch Club is the golf course inside the gated Evergreen community in Palm City, set among 520 acres and 299 one-acre homesites in northeastern Martin County. It is its own club, not part of Martin Downs. Charlie Martin designed the course, which opened in 1978 as The Evergreen Club. Colin Dunwoody bought it in December 2019, renamed it Crane Watch Club, and brought in architect James Cervone (ASGCA), who from 2020 redesigned several green and tee complexes, completely remodeled the driving range and added a short game area. The par 72 has mature oaks and pines, many lakes and ponds, and eight sets of tees, from 7,171 yards at the Pro tees down to 4,760. It runs as a semi-private club: members get longer advance booking windows, and non-members can book tee times at published rates. In May 2026 the Evergreen association waived its right of first refusal on a proposed sale of the club; no closing had been announced at that time. The Perch restaurant and bar has a patio overlooking the course.

Fairway Conditions
Crane Watch is a classic, tree-lined layout with water on many holes. From the Pro tees the front nine plays 3,638 yards and the back 3,533, and the par-5 11th is the longest hole at 603 yards. Cervone's work has aimed to balance the two nines; when Dunwoody bought the course the front was almost 300 yards longer than the back. On GolfPass, golfers rate it 3.7 out of 5 across 1,245 reviews, with Layout (4.0) and Friendliness (4.1) scoring highest and Conditions lowest (3.4 all time, 2.9 over the last six months), so it is worth asking about current course condition when you book.

Palm City has a humid subtropical climate with mild, drier winters and hot, humid summers, so golf is played year-round. Peak season from November through April brings comfortable mid-70s highs. Summers reach the upper 80s and low 90s with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through September, so morning tee times are the best bet.

“Crane Watch is the course I play when I want to be honest about my game. This one wasn't designed to be forgiving, and the 73.9 rating and 141 slope from the Pro tees tell you that right away. What I appreciate about it is that it doesn't feel unfair. The trouble is visible, the lines are there if you think about them, and when you hit a good shot it feels earned.”

Open to the public. 18 holes from $70 to $90 in season.
Published rates effective November 1, 2025 (the 2025-26 season): 18 holes are $90 from 6:28 to 11:59 am, $80 from noon to 2 pm and $70 from 2 to 5 pm; 9 holes are $60 from noon to 5 pm. Junior rates (14 and under) are walking only. Tee times can be booked online, a credit card holds the booking, and cancellations need a phone call at least 24 hours ahead or the full rate is charged. Rain checks are valid for 60 days and are not issued after 2 pm.

Tournaments & Events
Crane Watch hosts golf outings with planning help, personalized cart signs and scorecards, bag drop, on-course sponsor signs and event scoring, with add-ons such as putting contests, clinics, prize packages and hole-in-one contests. Group bookings go through Club Manager Dennis Zasoski at (772) 888-2920 ext. 1, and members have their own member events. Rod Curl Jr., the PGA Director of Instruction, runs member and non-member clinics, private and group lessons and club fitting. He learned the game from his father, Rod Curl Sr., who beat Jack Nicklaus by one shot to win the 1974 Colonial.

Crane Watch's renovated restaurant and bar serves lunch, dinner and drinks to members and guests, with an outdoor patio overlooking the course. Posted hours are 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Thursday, 10 am to 7 pm Friday and Saturday, and 9 am to 3 pm Sunday.
