Course Overview
The Club at Lost Lake is a private golf club at 8300 SE Fazio Drive in Hobe Sound. The course opened in 1993 and was designed by Jim Fazio and his son Tom Fazio II, routed through preserved wetlands, lakes and mature trees with strategic bunkering and water in play. For most of its history Lost Lake was a semi-private course open to daily-fee golfers, and in 2018 GolfPass golfers ranked it No. 2 on its list of the friendliest courses in the U.S. and No. 20 among Florida courses. Under new ownership, the club began moving to fully private membership in late 2024 and has invested in a renovated dining room and bar, a 20,000-square-foot (100-yard) putting green, a Scottish-style short game area with stacked-sod bunkers, a 300-yard-plus driving range, new electric carts, and a 3,000-square-foot patio overlooking the practice area. Membership is capped at 325, with Full Golf, Executive Golf (ages 45 and under) and Dining categories. The par 72 plays 6,754 yards from the Black tees (73.8 / 143) and down to 4,902 yards from the Silver tees.

Fairway Conditions
Lost Lake's routing threads through preserved wetlands and lakes, so water and bunkers are the main hazards. During its public years, GolfPass reviewers rated Conditions 3.7 and Layout 3.8 out of 5, and a January 2024 reviewer described the course as very well kept, with fast greens and plenty of water and sand to avoid. Since going private, the club says the new ownership has made significant investments in the golf course and practice facilities, and capping membership at 325 is meant to keep tee times available and pace of play steady.

Hobe Sound has a humid subtropical climate with mild, drier winters and hot, humid summers, so golf is played year-round. Peak season from November through April brings comfortable mid-70s highs. Summers reach the upper 80s and low 90s with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through September. Lost Lake sits inland, west of US-1, where the preserve setting can feel calmer than the coastal courses but summer storms still roll through most afternoons.

“Lost Lake is the definition of understated luxury. There's no flash here, just a Fazio course in perfect condition winding through beautiful Florida preserve land. The 73.8 rating and 143 slope tell you it's a serious test, but the experience isn't intimidating. It's quiet, it's exclusive, and the golf is outstanding. This is the kind of club where people come to disappear from the world for a few hours and just play golf.”
