Course Review & Guide
Palm City, Martin County
Best For
The Cape Club of Palm City is a private golf club in western Palm City, near I-95, with a course its owners describe as more characteristic of the Carolinas than South Florida: soft pines, lakes, and acres of wetlands and nature preserves. The course opened in 1989 as Cobblestone, the first design of architect Roy Case, and was redesigned in 2004 by Darren Clarke and Eoghan O'Connell, after which it was known for years as The Fox Club. The Cape Club Collection, which also owns the Cape Club of Sharon and the Cape Club of Falmouth in Massachusetts, bought it in 2022 and reopened it that November after renovating every bunker with liners, drains, and bright "Augusta White" sand, adding a new pump station, refreshing cart paths and landscaping, and rebuilding the clubhouse dining room, bar, ballroom, and back patio. The par 72 stretches to 7,003 yards from the Black tees (74.6 / 140) and comes down to 5,046 yards, with eight tee combinations in between. The round finishes on a 586-yard par 5 that curls around a lake, and a 2019 GolfPass feature singled out the narrow fairways and unusually undulating greens as the course's real test. A no-tee-times policy and a reputation for fast play (GolfPass named it one of the top 25 U.S. courses for pace of play in 2019) keep the course easy to get onto, and membership is open to golfers living inside or outside the community.

The 2022 renovation rebuilt every bunker with new liners, drainage, and Augusta White sand, added a new pump station for turf health, and cleaned up in-play and out-of-play areas on every hole. GolfPass lists TifEagle Bermuda greens. GolfPass reviewers rate the club 4.6 out of 5 across more than 600 reviews, many of them from its earlier semi-private years. Bridgestone Golf filmed commercials here in 2022 and 2023 and cited how well the course is maintained. Only club carts are allowed on the course; contact the club for current conditions.
