Course Overview
The Florida Club is a daily-fee public course at 9005 SW Old Royal Drive in Stuart, off Kanner Highway. It opened in 1996 and is the only course designed by "Gentleman" Dick Gray, the longtime superintendent and friend of Pete Dye, who told TCPalm the original plan was to call it the Michigan Players Club before the owners chose a local name. The par 72 winds through mature oaks, native pines and palmettos, with no parallel fairways, strategic water, changing elevations, and quick, contoured greens, so it delivers a private-club feel without the membership requirement. A renovation of more than 10 months, completed in March 2018, refreshed the course and clubhouse and rebuilt the signature 16th as a peninsula green. The club markets more than 6,900 yards from the back tees; the rated Gold tees play 6,738 yards (72.2 rating, 130 slope), with Blue, White, Green, and Red tees down to 4,982 yards.

Conditioning is the calling card. The 2017 to 2018 renovation was planned around regrassing the fairways and greens with Celebration and TifDwarf Bermuda, and the club describes firm fairways and quick greens with plenty of movement. “Florida Club is the course I recommend when someone wants to play a solid championship layout without joining a private club. The Dick Gray design has real teeth. I like it because it forces you to think your way around the course rather than just bombing it off the tee. The community around it is well-kept, and the whole experience feels more elevated than the price tag suggests.”
